GLOSSARY (a-z)

Colours and Samples

-Colour codes = Unique letter/number combinations specific to each design/colourway eg. PR (Paradise Restored Collection)/AH (Archway House Design)/01 (Colour reference)

-Sample = 15cm x 13cm cutting of standard or wide width wallpaper FOC (up to 9 samples)

-Returnable = Approx 29cm x 42cm wallpaper sample – chargeable if not returned.

Large Wide width samples measure a full width and are more expensive.

-Strike Off = Custom wallpaper trial. Chargeable

Roll dimensions and specification

-Pattern Repeat = the distance between the top and the bottom of a repeating motif in a print

-straight match (see diagram)

-half drop (see diagram)

-Standard width = printed width 47cm – 70cm depending on the design. Sold by the 10 metre roll

-Wide width = printed width 101cm – 140cm depending on the design. Sold by the metre, panel or 10 metre roll, depending on the design.

-Roll length = All rolls are 10 metres in length unless otherwise stated.

Types of print

-Machine Print = Also known as ‘Flexo’ printing, using a flexible printing plate wrapped around a cylinder

-Hand block print = traditional print method using cut or engraved wooden or lino blocks

-Digital print = the process of printing digital based images on to a variety of substrates

-Screen print = prints produced by forcing ink through a prepared screen of fine material to create a pattern

Wallpaper composition

-Substrate = the paper base on which our wallpapers are printed

-All our hand block printed wallpapers are printed on traditional paper ground

-All our digitally printed wallpapers are printed on a non-woven paper made of cellulose and polyester (special variations include Silk non-woven, Cork non-woven, Mica/Metallic)

-Coating & finishes = our wallpapers are supplied uncoated, however we can arrange for our traditional hand block printed designs to be coated at an additional cost.

-Wallpaper Paste = We recommend any good pre-mixed tub paste, see hanging instructions.

-Fire Safety = all non-woven wallcoverings are fire certified for Europe and USA. See fire safety docs
